It’s been awhile since having our baby Nate that hubby and I went out for meals together. Recently, we chanced upon a bakery – Le Pont Boulangerie et Café, which we didn’t even realised had been around in Sri Petaling since 2016. Its French name was what captivated me and therefore, I decided to check out what this exciting place had to offer. Most importantly, it had to be baby-friendly!
For those unfamiliar with Sri Petaling, there are plenty of eateries of diverse cuisines but French cuisine is something almost non-existent, until Le Pont Boulangerie et Café arrived. Anyway, who would have expected to dine in a casual French restaurant that isn’t situated within a posh building or a more upscale locale in the city? This is what I suppose Le Pont Boulangerie et Café aspires to do – connecting people with a unique gastronomic experience (French in this case), and hence its name, which is translated “The Bridge”.
Its ambience is very Parisian with some modernity and this only serves to add more flavour to the food. On the ground floor is its boulangerie or bakery, where you can savour some of its freshly-baked French-style breads, cakes and pastries. Also, don’t forget to combine them with a cup of specially-brewed coffee or tea. The variety available at your disposal is just mind-blowing.
The café is located on the first floor and interestingly you will notice a bridge (very true to its name) traversing a gap in the floor. One glance at the menu and I instinctively knew this was the perfect place to enjoy a French meal with my loved ones. Although most of the items in the menu are somewhat European or fusion rather than French, you will still be able to find some authentic French items such as Cheesy Baked Escargot, Sous Vide Duck Breast, Ratatouille du Classique, Fraisee au Coulant, Chocolat au Coulant, etc.
My mom had Fettuccine Mushroom Carbonara which was served with a generous amount of super creamy and rich sauce. On top of that, it was garnished with various spices and topped with shreds of Parmesan cheese. You’d also be able to witness the waiter shredding the cheese onto the pasta once it’s served in front of you.
Hubby on the other hand, wanted to be a little adventurous and tried something novel – Salmon Linguine Pesto. It’s tinge of green may not appear mouth-watering at first sight, but trust me you’d be completely blown away once it touches your taste buds. This is an absolute must-try!
Last but not least, I had the Pomodoro Meatballs that turned out somewhat like bolognese pasta with slices of mushrooms, tomatoes and huge chunks of meatballs in a pot. If you happen to like spicy food like I do, then this is definitely worth a try.
Le Pont Boulangerie et Café is not only a cosy place to have your meals or hang out with friends and family, it’s also a great venue for holding small parties. In fact, they do have a specially designed party package, which is not spelt out in the menu and can be tailored to meet your requirements. Seriously, this cafe is highly recommended and I guarantee you won’t regret setting foot in it.
